The Bigger Picture

From Your First Idea to a Professionally Prepared eBook

A finished eBook is not just a written manuscript. It is a structured argument or narrative, a carefully edited text, a designed cover, a correctly formatted digital file, accurate metadata, and a clear plan for how readers will find it. Most authors only need help with one or two of those stages — but the stages depend on each other.

AuthorsAxis is built to work at whichever stage you are actually at. Some clients arrive with a rough outline. Some arrive with 40,000 words and no direction. Some have a finished manuscript and need only editing and formatting. Wherever you are, we map the path from there to a completed, publish-ready eBook — and we are clear about what each stage involves before it begins.

01 Idea or draft
02 Structure & outline
03 Writing & development
04 Editing & refinement
05 Design & formatting
06 Publishing-ready files

You can join the process at any node. The path forward is agreed with you before any work begins.

What We Do

Services Included in a Professional eBook Journey

Every project is scoped individually. Most engagements use a combination of the eight services below.

01

eBook Concept Development and Research

We clarify what the book is, who it is for, and what it needs to accomplish — then build the research plan and chapter outline that the rest of the project will follow.

We turn your ideas, notes, interviews, or outline into a full manuscript — written in your voice, reviewed at agreed checkpoints, and structured to read as one consistent book.

How We Work

Our Professional eBook Creation Process

Six stages. Each stage has an agreed deliverable, and each one begins only after the previous stage is approved.

01

Discovery and Consultation

We start with a conversation, not a proposal. We need to understand your subject, your audience, your manuscript status, your references, your deadline pressure, and your budget range. Nothing is quoted until this stage is done.

You receive: a written summary of project scope and a suggested direction
02

Strategy and Outline

We agree on the content direction, the chapter structure, the target length, and the review milestones. For nonfiction, this is where the argument is mapped. For fiction, this is where the story and structure are worked out.

You receive: an approved outline and project schedule
03

Writing and Development

Drafting happens in agreed chunks, not in one unreviewed block. You see work-in-progress at each checkpoint, you give feedback, and the next section is developed with your notes applied.

You receive: chapter drafts at agreed intervals, with revisions included per the agreed scope
04

Editing and Refinement

The full manuscript goes through structural editing first, then sentence-level copyediting, then a final proofread. Editorial changes are tracked so you can see exactly what was changed and why.

You receive: a clean edited manuscript with tracked changes and a change summary
05

Design and Digital Formatting

Cover concepts are developed in line with the genre and audience, and the approved manuscript is typeset for the formats you will actually publish in.

You receive: approved cover files and formatted eBook files in the agreed formats
06

Final Delivery and Publishing Support

We deliver the files you need, walk through platform requirements with you, and, if you want to continue, discuss launch and marketing options that are quoted separately.

You receive: final deliverables and a publishing preparation checklist

We do not quote completion times before we understand the scope of a project. Every schedule is built around your manuscript, your review pace, and the complexity of the work.

Why AuthorsAxis

Why Authors Choose to Work With Us

These are the working principles we hold ourselves to on every project.

01

Collaborative, author-first process

You are part of the work, not waiting outside it. Every stage has a defined review point, and your feedback shapes the next stage.

02

Clear scope and communication

You will always know what is being delivered, when, and what is not included. Change requests are handled openly, not absorbed silently.

03

Tailored to the manuscript and genre

We do not apply a single template to every book. Fiction, memoir, business, and instructional writing each require a different editorial approach, and we work accordingly.

04

Attention to editorial and production quality

Editing, cover design, and formatting are treated as one continuous standard, not three disconnected deliverables.

05

Coordinated services under one studio

Writing, editing, design, and publishing support can be coordinated in a single engagement, with one point of contact throughout.

06

Confidentiality and intellectual property respected

Manuscripts and project materials are handled confidentially, and ownership terms are set out clearly in the project agreement before any work begins.

We do not claim years of experience, awards, or client numbers on this page. Those belong in a conversation, not a headline.

Investment

How eBook Projects Are Priced

Two eBook projects are almost never the same, and we do not pretend otherwise. What a project costs depends on the length and complexity of the manuscript, the amount of research or development required, the level of editing needed, the design and formatting scope, and the publishing support you want.

Rather than publishing a single starting price that means nothing in practice, we quote every project individually after the Discovery stage. You will always know what is included, what is not, and what the next stage will cost before you commit to it.

Manuscript status A complete draft costs less to develop than an idea with no outline.
Research depth Subject matter requiring expert interviews or primary research is scoped accordingly.
Editorial intensity Structural rewriting costs more than a light copyedit.
Production scope Cover design, formatting formats, and publishing support are quoted per project.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What are eBook writing services?

eBook writing services cover the professional work of developing a book from an idea, outline, or partial draft into a completed, publish-ready eBook. That can include concept development, ghostwriting, editing, cover design, digital formatting, and publishing preparation. At AuthorsAxis, these services can be engaged individually or as a full project, depending on what the manuscript actually needs.

Can you write an eBook from just my idea?

Yes, in many cases. If you have a clear subject, a sense of your audience, and a willingness to be involved in the development process, we can build the book from the ground up. The Discovery stage is where we work out whether the idea is developed enough to move forward, and what the first stage of work should be.

Can I hire you if I already have a manuscript?

Absolutely. Many of our engagements start with a complete or near-complete manuscript that needs structural editing, copyediting, proofreading, cover design, or formatting. You do not need to start from scratch to work with us.

Do you provide ghostwriting services?

Yes. Ghostwriting is one of our core services. We develop manuscripts from outlines, interviews, notes, or existing material, written in a voice that matches the author's intent. Ghostwriting scope, revision rounds, and confidentiality terms are set out in the project agreement.

Will the finished book retain my voice and vision?

That is the objective on every ghostwritten project. During Discovery and Strategy, we establish the voice, tone, and structural direction. Drafts are reviewed at agreed checkpoints, and your feedback is applied to the next stage. If at any point the manuscript drifts from your intent, that is addressed before moving forward.

What is included in a professional eBook project?

It depends on the project. A full engagement typically includes concept development, outline, writing or editing, copyediting and proofreading, cover design, eBook formatting, and publishing preparation. Every project is scoped individually, and the exact inclusions are confirmed in writing before work begins.

Do you offer editing, proofreading, and cover design?

Yes. Developmental editing, copyediting, proofreading, and cover design are all available as standalone services or as part of a larger project. You can engage any of them independently if that is what your manuscript needs.

Can you format my eBook for Amazon Kindle?

Yes. We prepare eBook files for Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing and can guide you through the platform's formatting and metadata requirements. Final acceptance is always subject to Amazon's current publishing policies.

Can you help me publish on platforms other than Amazon?

Yes. We can support publishing preparation for other major eBook platforms subject to their individual requirements. If you plan to publish widely, we will confirm which platforms are supported before work begins so there are no surprises at the end.

How long does it take to write and prepare an eBook?

It depends entirely on scope. A short professional guide with a completed draft may take a few weeks. A full-length ghostwritten book with research, editing, design, and formatting can take several months. We do not quote timelines before Discovery, because doing so would be guesswork.

How much do professional eBook writing services cost?

Cost depends on manuscript status, research requirements, editing depth, design and formatting scope, and publishing support. We quote every project individually after the Discovery stage so the quote reflects the actual work, not an average. You will always know what is included before committing.

Who owns the manuscript and intellectual property?

Ownership and intellectual property terms are set out clearly in the project agreement before work begins. In standard ghostwriting engagements, ownership transfers to the author on final payment, but exact terms are always confirmed in writing and can vary by project.

How do you protect confidential manuscripts?

Manuscripts and project materials are handled confidentially. Access is limited to the team members working on the project, and confidentiality obligations are included in the project agreement. If you require a separate non-disclosure agreement, we can accommodate that before work begins.

Can you help market my eBook after publication?

Yes. Book branding, promotional graphics, social media content, launch planning, and advertising support are available as separately quoted services. These can be added to a project at any stage, including after the eBook has been published.
